Affinity is the treble show choir at UHS. Directing the group in their debut season was Ms. Michaela Gyure, who was assisted by Mr. Brendan Ball and Mr. Ryan Orme. The band was directed by Mr. Ted Brimeyer and Mr. Jeff Temple. They were choreographed by Nick Quamme and Tori Brendess. Their Slumber Party-themed show was presented at Johnston ShowZam!, Waukee Northwest Nightfall, and Hasting’s Swingin’ on the River. They also performed at four home shows including Preview Show, Pops 1, Pops 2, and the 41st USCI co-hosted by STUDIO 2024 and Vitality.
Soloists included Lucy Cunningham, Ava Russell, and Maria Quick. In order to start the group with strong leadership, trebles were allowed to dual enroll in Vitality or STUDIO and Affinity. Three girls took this offer, Jey Stevens, Georgia Rowley, and Kiersten Van Horn. Student directors were treble’s in STUDIO, this year they were Cooper Jones, Liberty Luna, Kennedy Menke, and Amber Pair. The crew chief was Lilian Gyure, who also designed the pizza boxes in the beginning of the show.
