Vitality is the junior varsity show choir at UHS and they are directed by Mr. Jon Edgeton. Assisted by Mr. Brendan Ball and Mr. Ryan Orme, the band is directed by Mr. David Breese and Mr. Jeff Temple, with choreography by Nick Quamme. The group presented their 2024 show, ‘Inside Out’, to the competition and judges at Johnston ShowZam!, Waukee Northwest Nightfall, and Hasting’s Swingin on the River. The group also performed at four home shows, their Preview show, Pops 1, Pops 2, and the 41st USCI co-hosted by STUDIO 2024 and Affinity.
The show featured many soloists including Mallory Reister (10)as Joy, Athena Augsperger (10) as Disgust, Henry Dix (11) as Fear, and Sean Roberts (11) as Anger. Sydney Hasson (10) and Braden Cox (9) were featured soloists in the ballad, and Addie Dahlgren (11) in the treble feature. And Hudson Lybarger (12) on the tenor sax in the tenor/bass feature.
Student Directors for Vitality are members of STUDIO. This season included Avery Clayton, Addie DeBoer, Dylan Rains, and Ben Schmidt. The ball wall at the back of the stage during performances was designed by Regan Anderson, and crafted by Mr. Shaun Knapp, Regan Anderson, and Arianna Lear. The student crew chief this season was Carter Menke.
